Teresa Oyiolo

On 16th February 2023, the Cabinet Secretary for Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Arts and Sports Hon. Ababu Namwamba presided over the official opening of Teresa Oyiolo Library in Busia County. The facility was built for the community by the grand children of Teresa Oyiolo in her memory. This is a significant milestone for KNLS as it aligns with the Board’s mission of promoting library and information services to the Kenyan public. Dr. Charles Nzivo, who represented KNLS, donated 1000 curriculum books to boost the new facility and improve the education standards. He urged the local community and learners to utilize the library and the services available to enhance their scope of knowledge and academic performance. The CS reiterated the importance of educating the community through library services, adding that the government is committed to ensuring that quality education is offered upto the grass root level. He underscored that this was in line with the government’s Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which he termed as a key catalyst to education and uplifting of people’s livelihood.
