On April 4th, 2023, the Kenya National Library Service (KNLS) joined forces with Book Aid International, Spotlight Publishers, and RTI to donate 2550 books to the One Million Tana River Maktaba Drive. This partnership between KNLS and the 1 Million Maktaba Book Drive is a significant step towards promoting access to books and encouraging a reading culture in Kenya.
The One Million Maktaba Book Drive, spearheaded by Mwanaisha Chidzuga, aims to collect one million books to be distributed to schools, libraries, and community centers throughout Kenya. This collaborative effort between KNLS and the initiative will provide an opportunity for people in both rural and urban areas to access books and engage in thoughtful conversations on various issues affecting their communities.
By partnering with Book Aid International, Spotlight Publishers, and RTI, KNLS is making a positive impact on literacy and education in Kenya.
