To support the government’s prisons reforms programme of rehabilitation and reformation of offenders for social integration, knls now supports the Inmates Education Program that is now exist in all prisons in the country. Knls has established a relationship with different prisons through the existing branch network, thereby serving prisons that are within close proximity of the branches. Some of the prisons benefiting from the program include; Kakamega Prison, Naivasha Maximum Prison, Langata Womens Prison, Shimo la Tewa Mombasa, Kamiti Maximum Prison, Nanyuki Prison, Industrial Area Remand, Kodiaga Prison In Kisumu and Nyeri Prison.
This initiative has been of critical importance and has been very helpful in enabling the inmates advance their education. The education program offers training for different cadres of education from Primary Secondary and tertiary levels. Some of the inmates have performed excellently in the National Primary and Secondary examinations and have advanced to acquire certification in Accounting, Law, Commerce among other courses through self-learning and distance learning programs.
Knls continues to support the prisons reforms program through the prisons education program by offering book donations, bulk book borrowing services (minimum period of one month) and reading promotion initiatives.
