Kenya National Library Service has a branch network that spreads to different parts of the country. However, it has not been possible to adequately cover all major towns in order to offer access to books to over half of the Kenya’s population. In order to offer suitable interventions, knls makes use of mobile libraries that are able to reach different regions that do not have access to libraries. To realize these dream knls makes use of mobile vans and motocycles to render the services to both primary and secondary schools. Once books are delivered to schools, the students or teachers choose appropriate titles which they are allowed to retain for a maximum period of one month. However, the institutions are required to register as members of the library for better planning and service provision.

The goal of the mobile library service is to reach out to inconvenienced communities that do not have access to static libraries. Presently there are four mobile library vans that operate from Mombasa, Kisumu, Nairobi and Embu. Motorcycle libraries are operational in many centres which include branches like; knls Karatina, Kinyambu, Munyu, Thika among others.
